Georgia Tax Credit Program
Support the Athens-Clarke Poilice FOundation Today
Thanks to an exciting new piece of legislation in our great state of Georgia, you can greatly help our local police department! Instead of writing a check to the Department of Revenue, you can now designate your taxpayer dollars to go right toward keeping our community safe.
Athens Representative Houston Gaines was the House sponsor for legislation (O.C.G.A. 48-7-29.25) that allows a taxpayer to receive a (dollar-for-dollar) tax credit for donations made to a qualified law enforcement foundation.
For 2023, there is $75,000,000 available to the various law enforcement foundations. The Athens-Clarke County Police Foundation can accept up to $3,000,000 from personal and corporate contributions.
Each taxpayer can contribute up to $5,000 (plus an additional $5,000 for spouse) and a corporation can submit payment application up to 75% of the state income tax owed.
The taxpayer will then be able to deduct dollar-for-dollar these amounts off of their FY24 taxes.
Where Will My Contribution Go?
These funds can be used by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department for police officer bonuses, to help fund programs like “Shop with a cop”, to establish new community engagement and outreach programs, to start a Police Athletic League, to create violence reduction activities, and so much more!
